About Map2Model
A free 3D printable map maker that turns any place on Earth into a model you can print at home.
Map2Model is a browser tool for turning any map into a 3D printable model. Pick a city, a coastline or a mountain range, draw an area on the map, and Map2Model builds a printable 3D model of the buildings and terrain inside it, then exports a multicolor 3MF (or a merged STL) you can drop straight into your slicer.
It was built to make the whole map-to-3D-model workflow effortless: no CAD, no plugins, no GIS workflow. You go from a place name to a slicer-oriented file in a few clicks.
Looking for the old map2model.com? That site went offline. Here's how to continue the same workflow with this (independent) tool.
What makes it different
- Free, no signup. No account, no paywall and no watermark. Generate and download as many models as you like.
- Browser-based model generation. Map2Model requests map and elevation data for the selected area, then assembles and exports the generated model on your device.
- Cities and mountains. The same tool makes a 3D printable city model from OpenStreetMap buildings and a 3D printable terrain model from real elevation data, so a topographic map 3D print is just an area selection away.
- Multicolor 3MF and STL. Export a multicolor 3MF where terrain, buildings, water, roads, greenery and the frame each keep their own color, or a single merged STL when you want one solid body.
- Slicer-oriented geometry. Exports are built for common slicers such as Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura. Inspect the preview before printing dense city or large terrain selections.
